On Monday 15 January some of the founder members of our Walking Hockey group joined the players for a celebratory Walking Hockey session followed by cake and drinks in the bar. Roll on Year 2!

Can you believe it? We are ONE YEAR OLD!

So much has happened in the past twelve months. It is still difficult to understand how a sport set up for 10-15 people here in Bromsgrove has over 20 clubs playing in England, several in Wales and is live in Australia and New Zealand too.

Over the next few weeks we will be recalling some of the many highlights but for now we’d like to thank everyone who has made this possible and invite you all to join us for birthday cake on Monday 15 January, 8.15pm in the clubhouse at Bromsgrove Cricket Hockey and Tennis Club.

Frosty conditions meant that, rather than cancelling training, our Mens 3,4,5th team switched to Walking Hockey – and very popular it was too.

On Thursday 23 November 2017 our Walking Hockey project won the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Partnership Community Project of the Year Award at a ceremony at Worcester Rugby Stadium. Sarah and Alan were delighted to accept the award on behalf of everyone in the Walking Hockey group.

The evening was made even more memorable as Sarah and Alan were able to have a long chat with Kate Richardson-Walsh, the captain of the Team GB Hockey Ladies who won gold in Rio in 2016. She is really interested in what we are doing.

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new feature about Walking Hockey on the Sport England Club Matters website. It tells how our project addresses local community needs in an inclusive way. There’s a nice video there too. Well done everyone who has had a part in this success.

Our Walking Hockey sessions are now running pretty well all year round. We are getting new players along most weeks. There’s no need to concern yourself that you may have missed something as we can quickly integrate you into our group. Please use the contact form to register your interest or just come along
